I. Lý thuyết Cấu trúc This is the first time
1. Ý nghĩa cấu trúc this is the first time
Đầu tiên, chúng ta hãy cùng tìm hiểu ngữ nghĩa của cấu trúc this is the first time từ các từ tạo thành nó nhé.
1.1. Ý nghĩa của từ first
“First” trong số thứ tự có nghĩa là đầu tiên, là thứ nhất.
Ví dụ:
Today, our first period is Maths.
(Tiết đầu hôm nay chúng tôi học toán.)
“First” khi mang vai trò là danh từ sẽ được hiểu là “người đầu tiên”.
Ví dụ:
The first to set foot on the Moon is Neil Armstrong.
(Người đầu tiên bước chân lên mặt trăng là Neil Armstrong.)
“First” ở dạng trạng từ cũng có nghĩa là đầu tiên.
Ví dụ:
Our team should have come first if they didn’t cheat.
(Đội mình có lẽ đã đạt giải nhất rồi nếu họ không chơi bẩn.)
1.2. Ý nghĩa của từ time
“Time” là một từ vựng quen thuộc, mang nhiều nghĩa liên quan đến thời gian.
“Time” là danh từ ngoài nghĩa “thời gian” (không đếm được) còn có nghĩa là “lần” (đếm được).
Ví dụ:
I told you a thousand times already, I’m allergic to seafood.
(Đã bảo cậu hàng ngàn lần rồi, tôi dị ứng với hải sản)
“Time” ở dạng động từ có nghĩa là để sắp xếp một cái gì đó để nó xảy ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể; hoặc đo lường thời gian một điều gì đó diễn ra.
Ví dụ:
The boss timed the meeting so well, it ended exactly at the check-out hour.
(Xếp căn giờ buổi họp chuẩn ghê, vừa họp xong là đúng giờ tan làm.)
He’s getting better at running, I timed him and the figure keeps getting smaller.
(Anh ấy càng ngày càng chạy giỏi, tôi đo thời gian và con số cứ giảm dần đều.)
1.3. Ý nghĩa cụm từ This is the first time/It is the first time
Cụm từ trong cấu trúc This is the first time/It is the first time có nghĩa là “đây là lần đầu tiên” chủ ngữ làm một việc gì đó.
Ví dụ:
This is the first time I have heard such a cool name.
(Đây là lần đầu tiên tôi thấy một cái tên ngầu như vậy.)
It is the first time she encounters him.
(Đây là lần đầu tiên cô gặp mặt anh)
2. Cấu trúc this is the first time và các cấu trúc tương đương
Trong các bài tập ngữ pháp, chúng ta có thể thấy cấu trúc this is the first time/it is the first time có công thức như sau:
This is the first time + S + have/has + P2 (PP)
It is the first time + S + have/has + P2 (PP)
S + have/has + never + P2 (PP) + before
S + have/has not + P2 (PP) + before
Ví dụ:
This is the first time I have eaten pho.
It is the first time I have eaten pho.
I have never eaten pho before.
I have not eaten pho before.
(Đây là lần đầu tiên tôi ăn phở.)
3. Cách dùng cấu trúc this is the first time
Công thức để sử dụng cấu trúc này đúng ngữ pháp tiếng Anh chuẩn là:
It/this/S + is/was + the first time + (that) + S + have/has + V2 (PP)
Cách dùng cấu trúc this is the first time
Ta thấy rằng công thức này sử dụng thì hiện tại hoàn thành ở vế đằng sau từ that. Bạn nhớ sử dụng dạng đúng của động từ phân từ 2 (V2 – PP). Bạn có thể tham khảo động từ bất quy tắc trong tiếng Anh để không bị sai dạng từ.
Trong cấu trúc này, mệnh đề trước và sau từ that là hai mệnh đề riêng biệt, đầy đủ, được nối với nhau để làm rõ nghĩa cho nhau.
Ví dụ:
This is the first time that I’ve been so far from home.
It was the first time that I’ve been so far from home.
(Đó là/đã là lần đầu tiên tôi xa nhà đến vậy)
4. Các lưu ý khi sử dụng cấu trúc this is the first time
Cấu trúc this is the first time, cũng như bao cấu trúc ngữ pháp khác, có một số lưu ý khi sử dụng nó và các cấu trúc tương đương.
4.1. Cấu trúc the first time
Cấu trúc này cũng có nét nghĩa giống cấu trúc this the first time, nhưng nó không phải một mệnh đề đầy đủ. Công thức:
The first time + (that) + S + Verb
Cấu trúc the first time
Ví dụ:
The first time they kissed, he had his eyes open.
(Lần đầu họ hôn nhau, anh ấy đã mở mắt.)
4.2. Từ ever trong cấu trúc this is the first time
Khi dùng thì hiện tại hoàn thành, chúng ta hay dùng từ “ever” để biểu thị nghĩa “từ trước đến nay”. Từ “ever” có thể đặt trước động từ hoặc đặt ở cuối câu (đứng riêng hoặc trước từ “before”).
Ví dụ:
I have never ever told anyone a lie.
I have never told anyone a lie, ever.
I haven’t told anyone a lie ever before.
(Từ trước đến nay tôi có nói dối ai bao giờ.)
