I. CÁCH DÙNG

-  Thường bạn có thể sử dụng "prefer" hoặc " would rather " để diễn tả bạn thích điều gì đó hơn.

II. CẤU TRÚC

1. Prefer

S+ prefer N to N ( thích cái gì hơn cái gì)

Ví dụ: Nam prefers badminton than volleyball

Dịch: Nam thích cầu long hơn là bóng chuyền

         S+ prefer Ving to Ving (thích làm cái gì hơn cái gì)

Ví dụ: Nam prefers playing babminton to watching TV

Dịch: Nam thích chơi cầu lông hơn là xem TV

        S+ prefer to V1 rather than V2 ( thích làm cái gì hơn cái gì)

Ví dụ: They prefer to eat fruits rather than drink juice.

Dịch: Họ thích ăn hoa quả hơn là uống nước ép.

2. Would rather

          S+ would rather V than V ( thích cái gì hơn cái gì)

Ví dụ: Nam would rather play badminton than watch TV 

Dịch: Nam thích chơi cầu lông hơn xem TV

     S + would rather + V ( thích cái gì hơn)

Ví dụ: Nam would rather play games

Dịch: Nam thích chơi games hơn

            S+ would rather + S+ Ved/ P1 ( muốn ai đó làm cái gì ở hiện tại)

Ví dụ: His mother would rather he studied harder

Dịch: Mẹ anh ấy muốn anh ấy học chăm hơn

            S+ would rather + S+ Ved/ P2 ( muốn ai đó làm cái gì ở quá khứ)

Ví dụ: His mother would rather he had studied harder last exam

Dịch: Mẹ anh ấy muốn anh ấy đã phải học chăm chỉ hơn cho kì thi đợt trước
